What a wonderful , relaxing stay my husband and I had at Villa Mkondo. The villa is extremely well appointed. bright and airy and exceptionally well maintained. It is in a great location, just a few minutes walk to the beach and local restaurants. We loved the mature gardens, laps in the pool and I was lucky enough to arrange a private yoga session with Viv. Can't wait to come back.
I had an amazing time staying there. The house is in a perfect location, just a short walk to the beach, which was great for morning dip in the sea and coffee at the beach café. The setup was ideal for sharing with mate too, with plenty of space for everyone to hang out together. It was a very comfortable and fun vibe and can't wait to go again. We entered Mkondo from a quiet and very private cul de sac where you can park. From there it's like opening the gate on an oasis. Blissfully private and quiet, rolling lawns, gorgeous pool, sauna, all surrounded by established trees. From the balcony you can actually see the water and from the lower area you can see the golf course and across a beautiful valley to the other hacienda style homes in the distance. Beautiful!!
Lovely Mkondo has a great lowkey beach bar about 5 mins walk away (Wazzas). Great coffee and cocktails with such friendly staff and a very local vibe. They were great to chat to and get recommendations about local sights.
We hired a car and did day trips. Malaga airport is only 20 mins, Ronda 1hr 30, Cadiz 2hr15, Gibraltar, 1hr 20. We were astonished how close and accessible everything was. The town of La Cala de Mijas was an easy 15 min stroll or a few mins drive. lovely restaurants and bars.
We had a great time at Mkondo. There were 6 of us sharing the terrace which is entirely self sufficient and ideal for sharing. The beds and linen was 5 star quality and guaranteed the most comfortable nights sleep. The terrace has a lovely outdoor lounge area which is perfect for breakfast or a late night glass of wine, or you can use the pool and graze on the sun chairs there. We enjoyed the infra red sauna, spacious gardens and were invited to join the hosts for home made paella!
Wonderful hosts, wonderful environment, felt very much like home away from home with a great local vibe. If you looking for more action, the small but lively town of la Cala de Mijas is only a 15 minute walk along the shore. Perfectly situated between local and lively, Mkondo offers the best of both worlds.
This was a fab oasis to enjoy my breakfast on the leafy patio, relax by the pool or take a stroll to the local beach for a swim. Engage with the locals over a coffee - or the best pina colada at Wazza's beach bar or explore the local town by walking along the beach, or take a day out to Malaga or Marbella by bus or car.
